Supporting our Local Floral Farms

Our COmmitment

Beach Plum is committed to sourcing local and American-grown flowers for our clients. We believe that partnering with local floral farms and other American-grown floral farmers provides a fresh, sustainable and low chemical option for our designs.

As floral designers we are aware that nearly 80% of flowers sold here in the United States are imported from South America and other foreign countries creating a heavy carbon footprint.

Just as we ask about our food, it is important to know where your flowers are coming from. Many foreign floral farmers do not regulate any use of harmful chemicals and pesticides and by law they are not required to label where your flowers are grown. According to Debra Prinzing, Author of Slow Flowers, the International requirements for flower farming practices are pretty lax and often fraught with workers' rights issues.

In 2016, Beach Plum partnered with Little State Flower Company located in Rhode Island to source many of our flowers. In return, our clients receive a "field to vase" option for their wedding flowers using fresh, local options.
